Tommy

Hi, I’m Tommy! I can’t wait to meet you, but first, here’s a little bit about me: I was born and raised in Shakopee, MN, where I graduated high school as a National Merit Scholar due to my high PSAT score. I then attended college at the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities as a Gold Scholar, double-majoring in Astrophysics and Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior (EEB). During my time at UMN, I conducted research in biochemistry and space physics, with applications to the emerging field of astrobiology.

At the U, I worked as a teaching assistant for foundational astrophysics for three years, which gave me invaluable one-on-one tutoring experience. I believe that STEM courses are some of the most engaging subjects to pursue and can be accessible to all with the right tutor/teacher. I love sharing my passion for STEM with others! When tutoring, I like to first emphasize conceptual understanding and then support that foundation with mathematical reasoning. I find it easiest to learn science and math when we understand all facets of a problem, making it feel less challenging and overwhelming.

At Kay Tutoring, I am available to support students in all levels of physics and math classes, as well as ACT Math, SAT/PSAT Math, and ACT Science.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, reading, playing video games, birdwatching, and building LEGO®! I am so excited to be a part of your learning journey and support your success as a STEM student!
