Hi everyone! My name’s Hannah, and I am from the gorgeous little town of Winona, Minnesota. In Winona, I attended Cotter High School before going to college at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. I graduated with a triple major in Mathematics, Data Science (Advanced Math Track), and Musical Theatre (BFA) and finished with a 4.0 GPA. During that time, I was also named a Goldwater Scholar and a Clare Boothe Luce Scholar. Currently, I am a graduate student at the University of Minnesota, pursuing a PhD in Biostatistics.

My love of tutoring started in high school and has continued to develop throughout my education. In undergrad, I had a challenging and rigorous course load, performed in shows, and tutored students. I was also a grader and teaching assistant for multiple levels of calculus and participated in research programs. I studied combinatorial representation theory, graph theory (which was GREAT given that my last name is Graff), and equitable data science. I learned how to understand hard topics and balance a busy lifestyle. Since I know what it’s like to be very busy, I love helping students manage their extracurricular schedule and schoolwork.

At Kay Tutoring, I am a tutor for all levels of Math and Executive Functioning Coaching. I always find that having individual instructors helps me ask questions I wouldn’t otherwise ask and find out what isn’t making sense, so I love being that outlet for students. I have tutored a wide range of students, from 5th-graders to graduate students, and subject matter, from Algebra ½ to Calc II and III, so I can meet students where they’re at. When tutoring, I find it helpful to ask students to teach me what they just learned so we can see what they understand and what they don’t. I will always affirm that math/school/life/everything is hard, but in doing it, you learn to do hard things. Tutoring is a fun way for me to engage with students and help them with their academics and life skills.

Outside of my academic career, I am involved in the arts world. As a musical theatre major, I have performed professionally in several shows in Omaha, Nebraska—I adore anything that involves singing, acting, or dancing. I absolutely love getting in my steps, so you will always find me walking, running, and hiking around. I also play tennis and would love to talk Michael Jackson songs with anyone. I’m excited to meet you all! :)
