Max
Hello! My name is Max, and I’m excited to work with you! A little about me:
I graduated summa cum laude from Saint John’s University with a Bachelor's in Applied Physics and minors in Mathematics and Computer Science (GPA 3.92). Now, I am pursuing my Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MSECE) at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
I’ve tutored students from elementary age to college for years in mathematics, physics, computer science, and ACT/SAT test prep. My approach emphasizes building confidence, independence, and strong problem-solving skills through the “I do, we do, you do” method. During undergrad, I also worked as a physics teaching assistant and tutor for three years, leading study groups, guiding students through labs, and providing one-on-one academic support.
In 2024, I served in Denver, CO with AmeriCorps through Reading Partners, coordinating literacy programs at multiple elementary schools. I worked with K–4 students to develop foundational reading skills, supported teachers, managed student progress data, and helped foster stronger connections to learning in under-resourced communities.
Beyond tutoring, I’ve conducted research in physics and engineering, including a Department of Energy SULI Internship at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), where I developed computer vision software to analyze concentrated solar power systems, and a summer research fellowship where I helped manufacture and optimize an ultrafast titanium-sapphire laser.
Across all these academic experiences, I’ve seen how transformative learning can be when students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged. I aim to bring that energy to every tutoring session!
In my free time, I enjoy getting outside to climb, hike, and bike!
