Eric
Hey all! My name is Eric, and I grew up in Edina, Minnesota. I graduated from Edina High School and then went on to attend Augsburg University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry while tutoring in chemistry labs. I continued on to earn my Master’s in Education at Augsburg University and have been teaching high school chemistry ever since.
I’ve been with Kay Tutoring since 2018, where I tutor chemistry (all levels) and ACT Science. Outside of science tutoring, I am also an academic coach who helps students with executive functioning and study skills. While my primary passion is science education, I also enjoy helping students help themselves by working on effective planning, study techniques, time management, and other skills essential to success as a student.
Even as a high schooler, I loved helping other students better understand scientific concepts. Now, as an educator, I love to help students see problems from different perspectives, and I am driven by observing the “lightbulb” moments of realization. I also believe that teaching students to be better learners is the most important skill to pass on since knowing how to learn is not an inherent ability.
When I have time between school and work, I love to go to the movies and play board games. As a native Minnesotan, I also try to get out to the Minnesota lakes as much as possible during the summer and watch the Vikings on Sundays with my family. Skol!
