Erin L.
Hi, I’m Erin! I grew up in a small town in Minnesota, where I graduated from the local high school at the top of my class, was a member of the National Honor Society, and played two sports. I then moved to St. Paul for college and have lived here ever since. I attended St. Catherine University, where I graduated summa cum laude with a 3.99 GPA and was the class salutatorian. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree and a 5-12 Communication Arts and Literature teaching degree. I was a member of several prestigious honors societies, including Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. I also had the opportunity to continue my journey as a student athlete while studying at St. Kate’s. I gained invaluable leadership experience as a member of the women’s tennis team, serving as team captain and as both president and representative of the student-athlete leadership committee at the university and NCAA conference levels, respectively.
I have always strived to combine my passions for academics and sports in any way possible. I spent many years coaching youth sports in high school and college, and now, as an educational professional, I get to do the same. For the last several years, I have taught middle and high school core academics to full-time training athletes and have helped them study for standardized exams such as the ACT. Whether through teaching, tutoring, or coaching, my goal is to help students reach their goals. I love the connections that I get to build with my students—connections that allow me to push them toward success, knowing that success looks different for everyone!
At Kay Tutoring, I support students in ACT/SAT English and Reading test prep; English Language Arts academic course support; middle school math, science, and social studies course support; and executive functioning coaching.
Unsurprisingly, sports are my number one hobby when I’m not teaching or tutoring! I love playing tennis with friends in my free time, and I still try to play in at least one local tournament every summer. I also enjoy watching sports just as much as playing them. Attending college and professional sporting events is always on my list of fun things to do. In fact, one item on my bucket list is attending a major tennis tournament, like the U.S. Open. Finally, I love spending time outside, whether going for a walk or enjoying a patio dinner.
I’m so excited to get to know you, work with you, and watch you achieve your goals!
